Introduction
Le GDTA (Groupement pour le Développement de la Télédétection Aérospatiale)a été actif comme centre de formation professionnel de de 1973 à 2006. Fondé par le CNES (Centre National D’Etudes Spatiales) et l’IGN (Institut Géographique National), il comptait aussi comme partenaire l’IFP (Institut Français du Pétrole), le BRGM (Bureau de Recherches Géologiques et Minières), et d’autres établissements publics (IFREMER, BDPA, …).
Il a représenté plus de trente ans d’expérience dans la formation de la Télédétection et de la Géomatique, plus de 5 000 spécialistes venant de 144 pays ont été formés, dont 500 au niveau du 3ème cycle. Les formations étaient dispensées en français, anglais et espagnol.
Il reste donc dans les mémoires comme un exemple remarquable de structure d’enseignement, de promotion et de développement de la télédétection dans le monde. Il constitue aussi un formidable réseau d’anciens élèves et de formateurs, qui sera utilisé pour le rayonnement culturel et scientifique, de la Télédétection et de la Géomatique, en France et en Europe.

A propos des fondateurs
More than 30 years experience in applied geomorphology, geology and geotechnics using both remote sensing and geomatics. He is a specialist of location, characterization and quantification of active tectonics and structural geology applied to geotechnics, hydrogeology and neotectonics, and work also on internal natural hazards (volcanic hazards, and seismical hazards). Passed student of Pr J. Chorowicz, J. Angelier and G. De Marsily (UPMC – Paris 6), he is involved in the Taiwan-France CNRS/NSC International Laboratory (N°536). He was doing the Student Lecture Tour of EAGE (2008), and he teaches in various institutions (UPEM, ENSG-IGN, IFP-Training, IFP School, MineParisTech, Univ Denis Diderot-Univ. Paris VII, Univ Pierre et Marie Curie-Paris VI, UPEM…). He supervises more than 35 PhD students. He got the “Prix de la cartographie” of the French Académie des Sciences in 2002. He was involved on the former GDTA as teacher in CETEL in UPMC.

About 35 years of experience in Oil & Gas exploration as structural geologist and as Remote Sensing expert. Specialized in morpho-structural analysis, he developped numerous applications for Oil & Gas industry in geology, geomorphology, seismic acquisition, environmental projects or production methods. He obtains an Innovative Awards in 1991. After a PhD in UPMC – Paris VI, he joins BEICIP-IFP, then ELF and TOTAL. In parallel to his Oil and gas Engineer job, he has been Associated Professor (PAST) at the PAU University (UPPA) for more than 11 years. He supervised several PhD students. He now teaches professional training through TOTAL Associated Professor (TPA). He was involved on the former GDTA as teacher in the CETEL formation in Toulouse.
